St. John the Evangelist, Elberton

Elberton Church and its churchyard

Welcome to St. John's.

We are very proud of our little Church set in the countryside of South Gloucestershire. Please come to see us, either as a worshipper or as a visitor, and encourage us with the work of looking after this lovely Church and Parish.

The Churchyard is a delight to walk around and, if you want to see inside, please contact one of the Churchwardens (John Gunnery - 01454 413225, or Pauline Ford - 01454 416708), who will take you around.

Our Services are shown on the Notice Board and at the back of each month's Meeting Point magazine.

Also, we have special services like Plough Monday and Harvest, and we make a special effort at Christmas. We shall be very pleased to welcome you, should you wish to join us.

Architecture

Little is known of the Medieval Church but the Tower, including squints, remains, together with one Jacobean Box Pew. The rest of the Box Pews date from the Victorian restoration (about 1860). There is a nice Vowles organ and a single bell. The lectern is the memorial to the fallen in the two World Wars.
